New Faces, as Exposure

I had meeting for a working group earlier this week. It is decided in the meeting that Communication sub committee team to have another meeting between themselves to decide on communication initiatives.

So they conduct the meeting today, early in the morning.

Late morning, suddenly the champion comes to me and ask, “Can you present the initiative during ‘some event’?”

Erk! Surprised because why does it have to be me in the first place? Shouldn’t be there a whole bunch of people in communication team that can do just that?

“Should that be coming from communication team, instead? Not that I have issue, but it just doesn’t feel right.” I answered out of curiosity.

“It is recommended by committee to have you, for exposure to the new faces in the company, for you to be visible and bla bla bla ..” Answered!

Double triple surprised! AFAIK, there are still a bunch of new faces in the Communication team! But, whatever. I just accept that. People comes with opportunity, so better to grab before it’s too late.

Later, I have short discussion with another colleagues. Accidently, the one involved in the Communication team is there too.

What a great timing! I don’t have to find them and here they are. “Hey, why do I have to present at the event? Isn’t it suppose to come from Communication team?”

“We give a chance for new faces to be have the opportunity.” Okay okay! Fine, new faces what so ever.

But wait! Come to think of it, the one to speak is someone new to the company too. “Aren’t you new too?”

“Well, I’ve been here quite some times.” HAHA! Funny, you’ve been here not too long before me and you want to consider that? Really, that tickles.

What makes me wonder is, why such reason is acceptable? Hurm…
